international sensations

Even before we soft-launched IfWeRanTheWorld at TED in Feb 2010, news of our venture sparked folks from around the world to get in touch, share their enthusiasm and ask how they could help make the platform a reality*.
Two of these people took on the challenge in spades, starting as volunteers and through their prowess, vision and assorted other mad skillz are making great strides at makeing the business model work in their respective markets. Without further ado, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Lucy Masterson, representing Ireland and Tim Gregory, representing New Zealand.
I could not be more excited by what these two ‘human dynamos’ are cooking up - watch here for news once things ripen up a bit - and I wanted to introduce them to our (growing) readership so that, when the time comes, you know who to shower with love and accolades:
(in their own words)
Lucy Masterson, IfWeRanTheWorld Ireland
‘A human dynamo with a world class gift of the gab I am the boots on the ground for IfWeRanTheWorld in Ireland. I have worked in the communications industry for 19 years and also teach Social , Not For Profit and Cause Related marketing to young people with a vested interest in changing the world. Throughout our history the Irish have demonstrated an altruistic outlook and empathy for the underdog. Making IfWeRanTheWorld the new playing field for us to make the changes we want for our society is my mission. I look forward to seeing all 70 million of you Irish living both home and abroad acting and being the change you want to see on IfWeranTheWorld platforms.’
Tim Gregory, IfWeRanTheWorld New Zealand
‘It’s all in the title for me. IfWeRanTheWorld. A truth about collectively, collaboratively, working together. Because that’s the best way to solve problems and achieve great things. Your idea is only ever as strong as the people you share it with. As the late, great Joe Strummer put it, people can change anything they want to. And that means everything in the world. Without people, you’re nothing. And this is true from New York to New Zealand. I want to use IWRTW to facilitate connections between people, break down walls and combine the skills and abilities of different worlds by creating action platforms that inspire and motivate all sides to take action.’
Feel free to contact either one of them (clicking on their names above will allow you to email them directly).

* This was humbling and cool and thrilling all at the same time, but deeply anxiety-provoking as we had more press than code and holy shit that was scary… but that is a story for another time.
